La Morra. Pale ruby. Brooding intensity on the nose, at the same time the fruit has a certain coolness to it. Gorgeous, gravelly tannins and crunchy red fruit on the palate. Fresh and juicy and reasonably complex on the finish. (WS)

The 2021 Barolo Case Nere is a dark, brooding wine. Black cherry, gravel, incense, worn-in leather, smoke and menthol open in the glass. As always, the Case Nere is one of the more inward wines in this range, especially within the context of La Morra. The tannins, in particular, are pretty imposing at this stage.
