Tasting notes
Score 90/100 · Drink 2007-2020, Jay S Miller, Wine Advocate, Oct 2007

The 2005 Pinot Noir Yarra Valley was aged for 12 months in 45% new French barriques. Its super-expressive nose offers aromas of spice box, violets, black raspberry, and rhubarb. This leads to a medium-bodied wine with a firm structure and slightly tart flavors. It has excellent length and will continue to evolve for several years. Drink it through 2020. William Downie, owner/winemaker, is a Pinot Noir specialist with extensive experience in Burgundy’s Cote d’Or. He is also senior winemaker at de Bortoli. Importer: Dan Philips, The Grateful Palate, Oxnard, CA; www.williamdownie.com.au; Also tasted: 2006 Pinot Noir, Yarra Valley (84)
