Tasting notes
The 2010 Terras Gauda Etiqueta Negra, a blend of 70% Albarino, 20% Loureiro and 10% Caino Blanco from O Rosal subzone, is bestowed an outgoing bouquet of passion fruit, apricot and butterscotch that is well-defined. The palate is well-balanced with fresh acidity, subtle toffee apple notes with orange zest and tangerine towards the lively, almost fiery finish. This is very fine – albeit not cheap. Drink now-2018. Terras Gauda is one of Galicia’s most significant wineries established in 1990. Most of their 70-hectares of vine are located in O Rosal. Unfortunately, the entry-level wines from Terras Gauda did not pass muster for this report, but open your purse a little wider and there are a couple of gems to be found.
