The 2014 Filhot has a very reduced nose to the extent that it is just impossible to see past the SO2. The palate feels cloying and rich, good weight in the mouth, yet it needs more tension and harmony on the finish. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
RS 135 g/l. Tasted blind. Deep gold. A bit raw and green acid. Not that sweet. A bit tough. (JR)
The 2014 Filhot is understated, classy and polished. Ripe apricot, mint, honey, chamomile and dried fruits are nicely delineated throughout. The 2014 is an attractive, understated Sauternes, but not quite as polished as it has shown in the past.
