Tasting notes
The 2006 is slightly fuller and younger than the 2005, with some chocolate and floral notes intermixed with forest floor, black raspberry and blackcurrant fruit, medium to full body, terrific purity, a nice, layered mouthfeel that builds incrementally, and a long finish of a good 40+ seconds. This is a beauty and a very strong effort that should be drunk over the next 6-8 years.

There are only around 200 cases produced, but readers who are lucky enough to find a few bottles will enjoy the 2006 Cabernet Franc Truchard Vineyard. This 100% Cabernet Franc reveals beautiful aromas of cedar, herbs, raspberries, black currants, and a touch of toasty oak. The wine exudes complexity, medium to full body, stunningly sweet fruit and tannins, and an ethereal sense of airiness with no heaviness. Its velvety texture and burgeoning complexity are seductive. Drink this lovely Cabernet Franc over the next 8-10 years. This serious, small, artisinal operation is owned by Scott Palazzo, who, along with his winemaker, Peter Franus, is turning out some complex, French-inspired offerings. Tel. (707) 425-5575
