2006 Limited Edition Napa Valley

The 2006 is a very strong effort, a vintage of sweet blue and blackberry fruit, with hints of underbrush, cedar, and spice box. Medoc-like, but with California fruit purity, the wine has a dense ruby/purple color, lushness, and surprisingly sweet tannins for a 2006. It is medium to full-bodied, approachable already, and should drink well for 15 or more years. This small project of Dr. Luke Janssens and his wife Genevieve, who many may know from her career at the Robert Mondavi winery, primarily sources its fruit from the Oakville sector of Napa Valley, particularly the Hendry Ranch.
