2014 Special Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Bottled only in magnum and larger formats is the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Special Family Reserve. This is a dense, rich, complex wine, with notes of high-quality oak interwoven with blackberry, cassis, graphite and camphor. There’s an almost burning ember, Graves-like subtleness that also comes through, which is possibly the minerality that is often found in Coombsville. Beauty, of course, is in the eyes of the beholder, as is the price point, and there’s no question this is high-end pricing, but speaking of the wine itself, it is a special, rich, full-bodied wine clearly built for 20 or more years of cellaring.
