All estate fruit from a site just above Meadowood, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. Made by Aaron Pott (the 2005 and 2006 were made by Brad Grimes), its deep purple color is followed by a big, full-bodied, powerful wine offering lots of red and black currant fruits, notes of savory herbs, iron, spice, and new leather. Despite being a powerhouse, I love its balance, and it has a good sense of freshness as well as great tannins. Hide bottles for 4-5 years.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is composed of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored, it offers up baked plums, warm cassis and blackberry pie with hints of dried herbs, tar and underbrush plus a waft of cloves. Medium to full-bodied with firm, grainy tannins, this is seamless, with a good core of earthy fruit and a long and savory finish. 435 cases were made.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is just as impressive from bottle as it was from barrel. Raspberry jam, cinnamon, mocha and spice all meld together in a glorious, sumptuous Cabernet full of sheer appeal. I don't remember ever tasting a Seven Stones Cabernet that is so approachable and so alluring at this stage, just after bottling. Silky, elegant and wonderfully precise, the 2018 is a total knock-out. This is a fabulous showing.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is a heady, exotically beautiful wine that dazzles from the first taste. The power and resonance here are just captivating. A bit of coaxing brings out an exciting mélange of dark cherry, plum, espresso, lavender and mint. Deeply perfumed, with explosive energy and striking layers of richness, the 2018 is shaping up to be a jewel of a wine.
