Tasting notes
All things considered, the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard has aged well. Fruity and supple, with pretty savory overtones, the 2011 is a terrific choice for drinking now and over the next few years. I wouldn't push my luck with aging, as the 2011 is a bit fragile, its beauty notwithstanding.

Cool and barely ripe on the nose. A little taut – such a contrast to the 2010 alongside. Slightly dry finish. (JR)
The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard boasts surprising density power and richess. Mocha, espresso, plums, new leather, licorice and spices all meld together in a wine of volume, power and pure texture. Today, the French oak is a bit pronounced, which obscures the vineyard character slightly. I would give the 2011 a few years in bottle to see how things develop. The blend is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot.
A sleeper of the vintage, the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard is a sexy, upfront effort displaying light tannin, medium to full body and sweet notes of black currants, incense, Christmas fruitcake and baking spices. This seductive, succulent, lush wine should drink well for a decade or more. Tel. (707) 967-0227
