Tasting notes
This luxury cuvee produced from a single-vineyard is primarily Cabernet Sauvignon. It is made in an exceptionally restrained, polite style that is meant to emulate a Bordeaux, but may go too far in terms of delicacy and subtlety. It is an attractive wine, with a dark ruby color, and a moderately intense nose of red/black currants, and spicy new oak. In the mouth, it is elegant and medium-bodied, with good richness, moderate tannin, and a pure finish. Subtlety is a worthy goal in winemaking, but this example may err too far in that direction. Already supple and velvety-textured enough to drink now, it should age nicely for 7-10 years. Tel. (707) 963-7111; Fax (707) 963-7867

Deep red-ruby. Currant, tobacco and roasted meat aromas, plus some high-toned tar and mint with aeration. Smoky, sweet flavors of red berries, tobacco and mocha; a bit green around the edges. Finishes with slightly dry tannins, some unresolved acids and a note of damp earth.
