Tasting notes
The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jean unfurls to reveal hints of citrus oil and crisp green apple, complemented by notions of almond paste and spring flowers. Medium to full-bodied, chalky and layered, this is a mineral, succulent Clos Saint-Jean that should show well young.

Intense nose with pure pleasure exuded in spades. Big but not fat. Almost grand cru weight. Everything in balance. Edgy but rich – all set for a fine future. Throbs with potential on the end. (JR)
Tank sample. A little richer on the nose than the Mazures with that lovely subtle smokiness that does nothing to diminish the fruit. Not quite as intense on the mid palate as the Mazures but beautifully fresh and precise. (JH)
