Tasting notes
Lime and white peach are anticipated on a nose that is restrained by comparison with that of its trio of Kabinett siblings. The palate impression here is delicate and buoyant to the point of near-weightlessness, and displays a flattering hint of creaminess as well as generous primary juiciness. Stony and bittersweetly floral nuances add to the appeal and interest of a lusciously lingering finish, albeit one marked by understatement similar to that which characterized the nose. I suspect that this bottling will over time outperform its three immediate siblings.

Deep and flinty, with good fruit concentration and a smoky stoniness on the nose, the 2015 Kanzem Altenberg Riesling Kabinett is piquant and salty on the palate, pure but also rich, intense and complex, with a very good grip and a persistent structure. Although it is a lighter bodied wine, I would cellar it for at least another seven years but it can surely age for 15+ years.
Very small pours here! Very firm and structured. Lively green streak. Fresh as a mountain stream. (JR)
