The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru does not possess the tension or mineralité as Coffinet-Duvernay's Les Caillerets, and just feels a little flat by direct comparison. The palate is balanced with good weight, plenty of extract, slightly waxy in texture with a phenolic finish. Fine, but I would afford it another couple of years in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.

Apple crumble, dried herbs and flint. On the palate, there’s a surprising leanness here, with lots more flint and spice. Decent length though. (TJ)
