Tasting notes
The 2017 Santenay Clos des Gravières Blanc 1er Cru has a backward bouquet at first, reluctantly unfolding with apple blossom, white peach and wet limestone scents. The palate is sharp and very citric at the moment, not shrill but this needs time to find an even keel. Good length, but be patient - this is a hardcore Santenay!

Aromas of green apples, white flowers and wet stones introduce the 2017 Santenay 1er Cru Clos des Gravières, a medium to full-bodied, searingly chalky wine with striking phenolic structure, tangy acids and a serious mineral kick on the finish. Of all the wines in the cellar, it might be this Santenay that most exemplifies Lamy's decision to pursue more dry extract in his whites.
