Score 90/100 · Drink 2017-2022, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2017
The 2012 Barolo Cerretta is a bit richer and deeper than the Serra. Dark red cherry, plum, savory herbs and licorice give the wine its aromatic signatures. This, too, is a relatively mid-weight style, although there is a good underpinning of tannic grip. Accordingly, the 2012 is best enjoyed sooner rather than later.

Cask sample. Mid ruby with a concentrated crimson core. Ripe nose with a hint of dried fruit and baking spice. Concentrated fruit on the palate while the fresh acidity gives it plenty of contrast. Pure raspberry on the finish and with big, gravelly tannins. Embryonic. (WS)
