Score 91/100 · Drink 2008-2016, Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate, Dec 2006

Collosorbo’s 2001 Brunello di Montalcino is a gorgeous effort, with an expressive, perfumed nose, and layers of super-ripe red fruit, licorice and mineral nuances that open on the palate with great length and freshness, framed by fine, silky tannins that round out the finish. This sexy, irresistibly appealing Brunello should drink well to age 15. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2016. Medium red. High-toned aromas of red cherry, herbs and menthol, plus a whiff of gardenia. Sweet cherry and red berry flavors show a medicinal coolness and notes of roasted coffee and exotic flowers. There's something tangy and primal about this midweight, and a somewhat screechy character to the finish.

No barriques and 14.5 per cent. Only medium intensity of ruby. Sweet start and then good, fresh acidity. Definitely very youthful but a creditable attempt. Slightly dusty. (JR)
