Bright, dark red. Very reduced aromas of red fruits, smoked meat and cocoa powder. Rich but tight, even a bit youthfully austere, with firmly tannic flavors of dark raspberry and licorice. Hard to taste today owing to the reduction, but long on the aftertaste.

(mostly from Chatelots but also includes some Feusselottes) Medium red. Minerally but reduced on the nose. Tightly wound and distinctly mineral in the mouth. Less silky and fleshy than some of the preceding samples but juicy and penetrating, with a strong suggestion of crushed stone. In a comparatively muscular style for Chambolle. But then there's very little topsoil here over pure rock, according to Meunier.
