Score 89/100 · Drink 2001-2012, Robert Parker, Aug 1999
The dark ruby/garnet-colored 1995 Barolo Villero is backward, youthful, concentrated and complete. While closed, it does offer aromas of roasted herbs, minerals, tobacco, and leather. In the mouth, sweet black cherry fruit makes an appearance. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2012. Importer: Neal Rosenthal, Select Vineyards, Shekomeko, NY; tel. (800) 910-1990

Good deep red, not quite as dark as the above. Very closed nose hinted at dried rose and chocolate with aeration. Big and rich in the mouth, with terrific sweetness and primary cherry and raspberry fruit flavors. Lively, harmonious acids. Quite tannic and backward, with medicinal cherry and licorice notes on the aftertaste.
