Score 92/100 · Drink 2002-2015, Pierre Rovani, Aug 1999

The 1996 Savennieres offers a magnificently pure nose of lemons and fresh nuts. This green mint, mineral, almond-flavored wine is brightly focused, light-to-medium-bodied, concentrated, crisp, and possesses an admirably long, citrus fruit-packed finish. It is a wine of exceptional balance that should be capable of aging for 15 years or more. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2015+. Importer: Ex Cellars, Solvang, CA; tel (805) 686-9153.

Outrageous aromas of truffle, smoke, honey and mint, plus a whiff of asparagus. Fat, full and fresh, with floral and herbaceous flavors of terrific depth. Offers a silky texture but strong finishing acidity keeps it youthfully clenched and bracing.
