Tasting notes
Fossacolle excels with bold, fruit-driven wines, and the 2008 Brunello di Montalcino is no exception. Juicy, expressive and generous, the 2008 wraps around the palate with gorgeous depth. Black cherries, plums, French oak, spices and new leather all come alive in the glass in a wine that offers significant near-term appeal. Layers of fruit continue to build to the creamy, expansive finish. I can't think of too many 2008s that are as expressive as this is today.

Deep, almost opaque ruby with broad orange rim. Fine, fragrant nose with a hint of herb liqueur. Very compact and a little reluctant on the palate. Great balance and great length. Waves of grainy tannin. (WS)
