Score 93/100 · Drink 2012-2024, Jay S Miller, Wine Advocate, Feb 2009
The 2006 Old Vine Shiraz was sourced from 44-year-old estate vineyards and aged for 18 months in French oak. It offers up a captivating, complex bouquet of game, bacon, sausage, and blueberry pie. This leads to a full-bodied, opulent Shiraz with layers of spicy blue fruits, pepper, licorice, and enough ripe tannin to evolve for several years. Drink this plush effort from 2012 to 2024. The Kaesler family, of Silesian origin, emigrated to the Barossa in the 1840s. The winemaking is in the hands of Reid Bosward and Stephen Dew.
