Tasting notes
Deeper yellow color. High-pitched, soil-inflected aromas of iodine, earth and lemon, with a more exotic hint of orange peel. Rich, chewy and seamless on the palate; conveys an impression of sweetness, but the lemon, grapefruit and crushed stone flavors are also quite penetrating. A very young, chewy wine with terrific precision and depth. Finishes subtle and very long, with a bit more grip than the Hirsch.

Light gold in color, the 2001 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard reveals intense aromas of buttery honeysuckle, lemon oil, toast, and smoke. More exotic/flamboyant than its siblings, this in-your-face Chardonnay will drink well for 4-5 years. Tel. (707) 823-5603; Fax (707) 823-6709
About the producer

Kistler’s Chardonnays are some of the world’s most sought-after. This cult Californian producer crafts small volumes of exceptional, rich and generous, yet mineral and precise wines. With almost the entire production sold directly to their mailing list, the wines are also incredibly hard to find.
