There are 120 cases of the 2021 Cabernet Franc Nathan Coombs Estate, which comes from a north-facing, rocky slope. The assemblage includes 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon. "I couldn't help myself," said Hobbs with a wry smile. The wine boasts lovely floral and herbal nuances on the nose, then dives deep into black cherries and black raspberries. In the mouth, it's medium to full-bodied, smooth and silky, with a long, harmonious finish. It's an impressively fine effort.

Blended with a splash of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon (less than 3%), the 2021 Cabernet Franc Nathan Coombs Estate reveals a deep purple hue to go with incredible aromatics of pure cassis, black raspberries, wildflowers, spicy oak, graphite, and graphite. This beauty shows the fresher, elegant style of the vintage (as well as the appellation), but it s gorgeously concentrated, has ultra-fine tannins, integrated acidity, and a great finish. It's a sensational expression of this variety that will evolve gracefully over the coming 20+ years.

The 2021 Cabernet Franc Nathan Coombs Estate is a gorgeous, complex wine. Mocha, spice, blood orange, menthol, licorice and dried herbs all grace this wonderfully dynamic Cabernet Franc from Paul Hobbs. Aromatically expressive and deep, with beautifully integrated tannins, the Franc is quite impressive. I especially admire the energy here.
