Score 87/100 · Drink 2014-2019, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Feb 2014

The 1997 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a little disjointed in places and upon rereading my tasting notes, I’m inclined to attribute that to bottle variation. It opens to a brooding dark color and is by far the darkest wine of the flight. Earthy aromas of forest floor, dried herb, beet root and wild mushroom are delivered in generous amounts. Its aromatic evolution is quickly paced as the wine opens in the glass. Drink: 2014-2019.
