Score 89/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2008

(from fruit sourced from Spring Mountain, Howell Mountain and Oakville) Good bright ruby-red. Candied cherry, cassis and smoke on the nose. Fat, lush and sweet, with forward flavors of cherry, berries and tobacco leaf. Has the fresh acidity to make this fruit bomb a very tasty drink right now. (These wines, made by Thomas Brown, are the first Napa Valley releases from the Barossa Valley-based shiraz specialists Michael Twelftree and Richard Mintz.)
