The 2015 Campo di Camagi is the most savory of the three Cabernet Francs in this vintage. Dried herbs, smoke, worn-in leather, tobacco and cedar are all infused with Franc character. The Campo di Camagi is perhaps a bit compact next to the other wines in the range. It will appeal most to readers who find some of the other wines a bit too flamboyant. I especially like the interplay of fruit and structure. My impression is that the 2015 just needs time to be at its best and that it has more potential than it shows today.

This is one of three single-vineyard selections of Cabernet Franc made by Andrea Franchetti. The 2015 Campo di Camagi is a super precise and elegantly delineated wine. You really feel that sharp and etched quality that you get with this mighty French grape. Black fruit and spice find unity and fuel the great power and determination that is displayed here. This wine is just begging for more bottle age. The young tannins are far from reaching their full integration. Put this bottle at the back of your cellar for now.
Very youthful purplish crimson. Dense and somehow gravelly on the nose. Dry with sandy tannins and more reserved than the other two Trinoro Campi Cab Francs. Some particularly fresh topnotes. Minerals rather than the fruit spectrum. Some real lift here. But ripe and substantial – the broadest of these three 2015 Campi wines. (JR)
