There is just a single barrel of the 2017 Chablis Blanchots Grand Cru this year. It has a tightly wound bouquet, a little subdued perhaps, not unlike the Vaudésir, a touch of melted beeswax emerging with time and traces of hazelnut. The palate is much more energetic and I suspect, more representative with a fine line of acidity and a cheeky liquorice vein that ends up pronounced on the finish, augmented by blood orange and grapefruit notes. Give this three or four years in bottle for the aromatics to open.

The 2017 Chablis Grand Cru Blanchot is also quite promising, exhibiting aromas of dried white flowers and green orchard fruit, framed by some toasty new oak. On the palate, it's full-bodied, tight-knit and tensile, with good depth and focus. There are only two barrels this year, one from the 2014 vintage and one new barrel, so the wine's tension is all the more impressive.
