Score 86-89/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous

Medium red. Somewhat reduced aromas of red fruits, flowers, coffee and gunflint. Sweet and lush on entry, then juicy and a bit dry in the middle, with notes of chocolate and cocoa, sound acidity and firm-edged minerality. Finishes with fairly ripe, chewy tannins. These vines are planted high up the hillside on chalk and flint soil, and are typically the last that Clavelier harvests.
