Score 86/100 · Drink 1997, Robert Parker, Dec 1993

The 1991 Bonnes Mares is tough, hard, and compact. It reveals deep ruby colors and is solidly built with good depth, medium body, and spicy, ripe fruit, but its tannin tends to possess an astringency that I find troubling. It needs at least 4-5 years of cellaring. If the fruit holds up, my judgment will look not only conservative, but off base. Importer: Kobrand, Inc., New York, NY. NOTES ON THE 1992s FROM BARREL: Jadot's 1992 reds appear to be fruitier, more charming and attractive wines than the 1991s. Not as powerful nor as tannic as the 1991s, they display seductive, velvety textures and loads of sweet fruit. They are particularly strong in Jadot's extensive Cote de Beaune portfolio. Moreover, prices for the 1992s will be lower, making them attractive buys.
