From the declassified vines in Echézeaux, the 2013 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru has a lifted mocha-tinged bouquet with red and black fruit that has a slight “Stellenbosch” personality. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy, mocha-tinged black fruit with a dense finish redeemed by a decent thread of acidity. Modern in style, this comes across as a little forced at present.
