Performing beautifully, the 1976 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets Ancienne Cuvée Carnot wafts from the glass with notes of dark berries, raw cocoa, smoked meats, loamy soil and black truffle. Medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, it's a gourmand, textural wine that's marked but not compromised by some slightly roasted characteristics.
