Score 90/100 · Drink 2012-2027, Robert Parker, Dec 2006

A 2004 “Scotsdale” Cabernet Sauvignon could not be recommended because of its overt greenness but the 2004 “Leston” Cabernet Sauvignon was an altogether different animal as well as a superb value. Its opaque purple color is impressive as is the ripe, sweet, and layered blue fruit flavors. The tannins are ripe and there is enough structure for 6-8 years of aging. It should drink well for 10-15 years thereafter. Importer: Bluewater Wine Company, Warwick, RI; tel. (401) 739-7744 (Reviewed by Dr. Jay Miller)

Ruby-red. Powerful, densely packed red and dark fruit aromas verge on liqueur-like but also show energizing herb and fresh tobacco tones. Huge, dense and powerful, with imploded flavors of bitter cherry, singed plum, creme de cassis, licorice candy, espresso and exotic tobacco. With air, this concentrated monster offered brighter red fruit tones. With its powerful tannic structure and deep, almost inky flavors, this is built for the cellar. It's also a remarkable bargain for the patient collector.
