Score 87/100 · Drink 2015-2020, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Oct 2015

This wine was tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir has a more exotic nose than its peers with hints of marmalade and quince infusing the citrus fruit. The palate is clean and fresh on the entry but fails to build on its initial promise, and seems smudged towards the caramelized finish. This is a perplexing showing - I would have expected better.

Almonds, dried flowers, pears and spices open up in the 2013 Chablis Vaudesir, a wine built on pure verticality and structure. The Vaudesir is deep, rich and resonant to the core, with exotic floral and spice overtones that add a measure of finesse to what is otherwise a pretty powerful wine.

Pale yellow. Explosive, ripe, slightly exotic aromas of mandarin orange, lemon, apple, flowers and nuts. Rich, round and sweet on entry, with saline minerality providing lovely lift to the fresh, deep citrus and floral flavors. Dense and tactile but not at all heavy, tightening up toward the back and finishing dry and classic. The note of nuttiness carries through in the mouth.

Honey, almonds, Chamomile and peach scents inform the 2012 Chablis Vaudesir. A rich, textured wine, the 2012 stands out for its pure volume and depth. Layers of fruit flow through to the effortless, totally inviting finish. I imagine the 2012 will drink well relatively early.
