Good medium red. Aromas of black cherry, licorice and chocolate, along with a slightly roasted suggestion of prune. Broad, lush, dry and backward; boasts impressive volume but seems a bit stolid and inexpressive today, especially following the Echezeaux. But this big wine has plenty of underlying minerality and soil character. Needs at least five years of bottle aging.

Good deep red. Subdued but fragrant nose offers cherry, spices and herbs. This comes across as more suave today than the Echezeaux, with a juicy red cherry flavor that spreads out nicely to coat the palate. In a more elegant style, but with no lack of power. Like the last four or five samples, this will need five or six years of bottle aging.
