Tasting notes
A sort of tête de cuvée for Peay, the Elanus is only made in the best vintages. The 2016 Estate Chardonnay Elanus is a lovely, singular wine, with very pretty notes of caramel apples, candied peaches, roasted almonds, pepper, gunflint and candle smoke. The medium to full-bodied palate has a broody, satiny texture and savory flavor layers opposed by tangy freshness and finishing long with loads of flavor and a touch of anchoring texture. Only 50 cases were made.

The 2016 Chardonnay Estate is dense and also wonderfully translucent. Creamy, rich and expansive, with striking depth, the 2016 captures all the personality of Peay's cool climate Sonoma Coast estate vineyard. Bright acids and beams of supporting minerality add focus. (AG)
