Tasting notes
The medium to dark ruby-colored 2000 Pinot Noir Evenstad Reserve reveals faint notes of balsa wood in its otherwise demure black cherry aromas. Medium to full-bodied, it offers a slightly disjointed personality of dark fruits, spices, hints of cedar, and a briery note. It is surprisingly tight for a four-year-old wine, and while it displays outstanding depth of fruit, its finish is abrupt and tannic. Drink it over the next 5 years. Tel. Good full red. Bitter cherry, bitter chocolate, licorice and mint on the nose, with a lightly herbaceous aspect and some oakiness. Sweet flavors of red fruits and cinnamon. Offers good texture and fat, but could use more intensity and definition of flavor. Finishes strongly oaky, with a bit of unabsorbed acidity and decent grip.
