Tasting notes
Lovely fruity and still flinty on the nose is the 2013 Eitelsbacher Karthauserhofberg Riesling Spatlese, which proceeds on the palate as a lovely juicy yet pure and mineral-piquant Ruwer classic of great elegance and finesse. The cool freshness and filigreed structure is amazing here, as is the delicate fruit character and the perfectly integrated residual sugar of 57.6 grams, which is a quite moderate amount in modern Germany.

Light and fresh with the fruit nicely counterbalancing the acidity. Tart start but refined green fruit. Just a tad hard on the end. (JR)
Green apple and a little citrus add a light fruit contribution to the invigorating acidity. Although a tad sweeter, this is not really an improvement on the Kabinett. (MS)
