Tasting notes
The 2015 Crozes-Hermitage Les Trois Chênes is the entry-level wine from Darnaud, but man, what a wine! Cassis, toasted spice, licorice and hints of violets flow to a ripe, pure, polished Crozes-Hermitage that has sweet tannin, a pure texture, and a great finish. Drink it anytime over the coming decade. One of the up and coming superstars is unquestionably Emmanuel Darnaud, who leapt onto the scene in 2001. He produces three terrific Crozes-Hermitages as well as an excellent Saint Joseph.

The exciting 2015 Crozes Hermitage Les Trois Chênes tastes like a mini-Hermitage. Crushed stone, dark, plummy fruit, hints of licorice, cracked pepper and meat all swirl through this full-bodied, richly concentrated Syrah. It's got enough suppleness to be approachable now, but it should easily make it through 2025, perhaps longer.
