The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet La Garenne 1er Cru has a well-defined bouquet that perhaps does not quite deliver the charm of the Chalumaux at the moment. There is a crushed stone element here, although it lies hidden underneath the white flower and almond scents. The precise, detailed palate is well balanced, with a fine bead of acidity, finely judged acidity and sorbet-like freshness toward the finish. Good potential here. (DIAM GC closure)
