Tasting notes
The 2005 The Tempest (52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 18% Petit Verdot) offers attractive aromas of blueberry jam, cassis, and a creamy, espresso/chocolatey character. This opulent, round, hedonistic, voluptuously-textured, super-pure 2005 will provide pleasure over the next 12-15 years. Previously recommended: 2004 The Bard (94), 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To-Kalon (94), 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard (91), 2004 The Tempest (91). Tel. Good medium ruby. Sweet, complex aromas of cassis, chocolate, pepper and game. Concentrated, shapely and aromatic, with very good life to its black fruit flavors. Finishes with substantial firm, sweet tannins and a lingering note of licorice.
