Tasting notes
Pale ruby-purple, the 2019 Pinot Noir West Block is incredibly layered on the nose, with blackberry and raspberry jam, tobacco leaves, blood orange and tar. Medium-bodied, the palate is grainy, fresh, intense and layered, with a long, spicy finish. It could use another couple of years in bottle and should be long-lived in the cellar.

The 2019 Pinot Noir West Block is sourced from the original vines planted in 1969. A blend of just four barrels, the West Block is a wine of impact. Inky dark fruit, spice, leather, menthol, game and dried herbs gradually open in the glass. The West Block is going to need a number of years to come together. It is unlike any other wine in this range, in fact tasting it feels like stepping into another era.
