Tasting notes
Sourced from the Judge Vineyard in Bennett Valley, Morlet's 2021 Syrah Bouquet Garni features scents of violets, black tea, hints of pepper and clove, plus a sturdy base of blackberries and blueberries. Full-bodied and richly textured, it's like a deep silk or fine velvet across the mid-palate, then long and layered on the softly tannic finish, which carries hints of roasted meat and espresso. While not a focus for Morlet, it's a wine that Syrah lovers shouldn't miss.

Brooding and dark, the 2021 Syrah Bouquet Garni comes from the clay soils of the Judge Vineyard within the Bennett Valley and pours an inky purple color in the glass. On the nose, it’s savory with notes of black plum, sappy herbs, cracked peppercorn, and lavender oils. Full-bodied and plush, with velvety, ripe tannins and a long finish, it’s light on its feet and will show its best if given a few years to lean into its more gamey and meaty notes, which will certainly develop with time. Drink 2025-2040. 175 cases produced.
