Tasting notes
Medium ruby in color, the 2015 Pinot Noir Mimi's Mind has just a touch of flinty reduction on the nose to begin, opening out to black cherry, wild blackberry, dried lavender and warm earth with spices in the background. Light to medium-bodied, it’s silky in the mouth with concentrated red and black fruits, spices and notes of dusty soil and autumn leaves. It has a frame of firm, grainy tannins and wonderful juicy acidity to lift the long spicy finish. Give this another year or two in bottle.

From a grower who raises llamas, sheep and wild flowers as well as vines. Deep crimson. Super layered and complex on the nose. Very intense but not sweet. Really exciting fruit. Long, Chapeau! Really lovely. Very appealing but with an undertow of gossamer-fine tannins. Woo hoo for Oregon Pinot! (JR)
Dark red. Powerful red berry liqueur, potpourri, cola and incense aromas show outstanding clarity and verve, and a smoky mineral nuance builds in the glass. Offers concentrated yet distinctly lively and expansive black raspberry, bitter cherry, mocha and floral pastille flavors; a subtle blood orange quality adds refreshing bite. Gains weight and sweetness with air and finishes bright, gently tannic and extremely long, featuring resonating spiciness and florality.
Mimi did no-till farming at her family's Bethel Heights operation. The Lingua Franca team are very keen to benefit from her farming expertise. Very deep, dark garnet. Intense and brooding nose. Firm, very dry, almost austere but very ambitious. Pretty tough tannins. An Oregon Pinot for cavemen! Ambitious Nuits? Not friendly at the moment but I'd love to see it in a few years. 70% whole cluster. (JR)
