Tasted alongside the 2015 Pinot Noir Sequitur from Ribbon Ridge, the 2015 Pinot Noir The Beaux Frères Vineyard has fantastic energy for this vintage, revealing sanguine notes of iron-rich earth, cranberries, bright spices, and dried flowers. It’s salty and focused on the palate, with a refreshing feel, chalky tannins, and a savory finish. It’s mature, and while I do not see it improving further from here, it has plenty of life left in it. Drink 2025-2035. Michael Etzel founded Beaux Freres in 1991 in Ribbon Ridge alongside his brother-in-law, Robert Parker. In 2017, Parker and another investor sold their shares, and Michael became a partner with the Champagne and Burgundy house of Maison & Domaines Henriot. Today, Michael’s son Mikey has taken over the wine production and has been joined by Damien Lapuyade as winemaker since 2023. Beaux Frères has also transitioned to producing wines entirely from their estate fruit, which is farmed biodynamically. Readers will find happy homes for the holdings that were not part of the estate they worked with in the past, represented in this report, which don’t fall far from the Etzell family’s sphere of influence.

Deep lurid red. Intensely perfumed aromas of raspberry liqueur, vanilla, Indian spices and potpourri, along with a hint of smoky minerals that builds in the background. Densely packed and alluringly sweet, showing impressive depth and a bright mineral core to the sappy red berry, spicecake and floral pastille flavors. Gains power with air while maintaining energy and focus. Smooth tannins build slowly and harmonize with the vibrant fruit on an impressively persistent, floral-driven finish.
