Tasting notes
The 2019 Syrah Bouquet Garni comes all from the Judge Vineyard in the Bennett Valley and is a mix of four different clones and three separate parcels. It has straight-up awesome notes of smoked black fruits, cured meats, chocolate, and violets, and it has an Hermitage-like feel in its tannins and structure. It’s a gorgeous, layered, powerful Syrah to drink over the coming 15 years.

The 2019 Syrah Bouquet Garni is sourced from the Judge Vineyard in Bennett Valley. In most vintages the Bouquet Garni is quite aromatic, while in 2019 it is decidedly built on textural resonance and intensity. Readers will have to be patient, as the 2019 is not ready to show all of its cards just yet.
The Syrah Bouquet Garni is made from 100% Syrah, from a field selection of three Syrah clones planted to a vineyard in Sonoma’s Bennett Valley. A barrel sample, the 2019 Syrah Bouquet Garni has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and seriously punchy, fantastically fruity scents of crushed black plums, boysenberries and wild blueberries plus suggestions of dark chocolate, blackberry preserves, Sichuan pepper and violets. The medium to full-bodied palate has a solid backbone of ripe, rounded tannins and seamless freshness, supporting the core of juicy black and blue fruits, finishing with a peppery kick. 160 cases are due to be made.
