Wonderfully fragrant and lifted on the nose. Supercharged floral scent as well as excellent red cherry, plum and strawberry fruit. The scales tip towards the overripe spectrum, but it is held fresh by the bright acid. Well-integrated acidity. (RH)

The 2019 Pinot Noir Côteaux Nobles is gorgeous. Crushed raspberry, kirsch, spicecake, new leather and orange peel give the 2019 striking aromatic presence. Silky and gracious in feel, the 2019 is an absolute delight from the very first taste. Today, the 2019 is all sensuality.

The 2019 Pinot Noir Coteaux Nobles comes from the Nobles Ranch Vineyard in the Fort Ross-Seaview region and is another perfumed, complex wine from Morlet. Offering Côte de Nuits-like dark cherry and strawberry fruits as well as forest floor, flowers, orange tea, and spice, it's a rich, full-bodied effort with good acids, a more firm, focused texture, and outstanding length. Give bottles a year or two, and it should drink nicely through 2031.

The Coteaux Nobles Pinot Noir comes from 28-year-old vines planted at the Nobles Ranch vineyard in Fort Ross-Seaview AVA. A barrel sample, the pale to medium ruby-purple colored 2019 Pinot Noir Coteaux Nobles slips sensuously out of the glass with a provocative perfume of red currant jelly, raspberry preserves and rhubarb crumble with suggestions of violets and fallen leaves plus a waft of mossy tree bark. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is packed with juicy red berry layers, supported by plush tannins and seamless freshness, finishing on a lingering earthy note. 380 cases are to be made.
