Score 96/100 · Drink 2025-2035, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Nov 2025

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is a potent, full-bodied wine. Still very young and compact, the 2015 is an infant at ten years of age. Intense dark red fruit, iron, new leather, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco flesh out in the glass. The 2015 more than delivers on the promise it showed as a young wine. Readers who own it can look forward to another decade-plus of exceptional drinking.

Pride's 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve was made by Sally Johnson Blum and contains less than 3% Merlot and Petit Verdot combined. Two-thirds from Napa and one-third from Sonoma, it comes from one of the shiest-bearing vintages experienced at Pride. Scents of brown sugar, mocha and cigar box accent black cherries and plums on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is plush and velvety, with a long, almost furry-textured finish. It's well into its drinking window but has a decade of prime time ahead of it.

Coming mostly from Napa Valley (one-third from Sonoma County), the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve is another rich, powerful, yet elegant wine from this estate. Beautifully sweet blackcurrants, black cherries, smoked earth, chocolate, leafy herbs, and mulled spices all give way to a full-bodied 2015 that has a voluptuous texture, sweet tannins, beautiful depth of fruit, and a great finish. It shows the flamboyant, sweetly fruited, concentrated style of the vintage yet stays balanced, layered, and is just a beautiful drink. It’s going to keep for 15-20 years.

Coming 2/3 from Napa Valley and 1/3 from Sonoma County and containing small splashes of Merlot and Petit Verdot, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve has pronounced creme de cassis, baked blackberries and warm plums scents with nuances of cigar box, smoked meats and tapenade plus a touch of sautéed herbs. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers mouth-filling, crunchy black fruits with loads of savory accents and a firm, grainy frame, finishing with fantastic length and vibrancy. (LPB)
