Score 84-86/100 · Drink 2015-2019, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2014

The 2013 Volnay Village has a simple strawberry pastille-scented bouquet with light orange blossom scents. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins, light tart cherry fruit and showing some attenuation toward the finish. Drink over the next three or four years.

Transparent cherry red. Light, fresh, very classic Volnay but without quite as much attack as the Bourgogne Rouge. Very smooth and silky. Just what you’d want of a village Volnay. Lots hidden underneath. Worth waiting for. Good stuffing. Very neat, precise finish. (JR)
