Tasting notes
The 2012 Villa Antinori is an IGT Toscana blend of Sangiovese (with the same clones used in Chianti Classico and Brunello di Montalcino respectively), Merlot, Petit Verdot and Syrah. All the fruit is sourced from Marchesi Antinori's various estates in the region. This is a terrific value wine with a good sense of balance and aromatic intensity. The bouquet shows dark berry fruit, dried cherries, toasted almond and grilled herb. The finish reveals medium body.

The 2012 Villa Antinori is laced with sweet raspberry, floral and spice flavors, all in a mid-weight, refreshing style with considerable near-term appeal. Quite frankly, this is a stunning level of quality for a wine from estate vineyards with a production that averages 3 million bottles year, something that is unheard of in Italy. The Villa Antinori draws fruit across Antinori properties in Chianti Classico, Montepulciano, Montalcino and Maremma.
