Tasting notes
The intensely yellow-colored 2023 Nieder-Flörsheim Frauenberg GG is intense yet pure and chalky on the nose that is reminiscent of crushed rocks with lemon oil. Textured, finely saline and with weathered chalk featured on the powdery-silky palate, this full-bodied, layered and elegant Riesling is beautifully balanced and savory-saline on the mouth-watering finish. This is gentle and even silky for a wine from pure white limestone. 12.5% stated alcohol. Diam cork. Tasted at the domaine in August 2024.

Candied citrus rides a wild wave of stony momentum. Ethereal notes of eucalyptus and wild mint, yellow pear and apple peel. Stunning and complex. A smoky dreamscape of contoured impressions, some still, some deep, some bitter, some sweet. The juice here feels more like baby fat than substance and, when it fades, only the stony monolith below will remain. Saline and refined. (PS)
Grown at 280 meters, the 2023 Riesling Nieder-Flörsheimer Frauenberg Grosses Gewächs immediately has a gentle, creamy tone on the nose, fringed with a touch of savory ivy. Lemon brightness follows that creaminess, running right through onto the smooth, svelte but exquisitely luminous and salty palate. There’s such sleekness here—a wonderful marriage of creamy texture and pristine, cool, chalky lemon. Immense charm, freshness and elegance just glide and shine on the long, long finish that is as soothing as it is refreshing. This is grace and poise in a bottle. (Bone-dry)
